this is as close as I got to Royal Wedding

Smitonius:

driving through Islington (North London), I couldn't help but stop the car and snap this:

A bit like Marmite indeed... love or hate?

PS: Beatrice's hat.... say no more.

Those "hats" [really??] were ridiculous! But the wedding? Nice to know romance is alive and well somewhere on the planet. Love all that hundreds years old pageantry.....but feel bad that some have so much while others in the world go to bed hungry.

There were a lot of hideous and ridiculous hats, I thought, but what struck me about those girls was that no sensible womanly hand seemed to be guiding or supporting them - they have a defiant but vulnerable look about them that no amount of bizarre designer clothing can disguise, and that reminded me forcibly of the kids in care with whom I worked.

And maybe that's just pure nonsense on my part.....

I just loved seeing all that happiness and good will on TV for a change, and yes I'm a romantic at heart (a triumph of hope over experience!) so I had a lovely time watching it all. I also loved the only grumpy face to be seen, the little bridesmaid..how embarrassed she will be when she grows up!
Those hats, indeed!

I thought the hats were the only things that brought a bit of fun to the wedding. Even William had trouble staying awake during the ceremony it seemed. I like the artwork in your photo. Brightens up a dull corner.
They do make a beautiful couple and I wish them a long and happy life together ;-)

Ooh, I love it! (Although as a republican and radical feminist, I think it best to keep quiet about my views on the event itself. Molly sums it up well..)

Re the fishtailing – I don't think it's compulsory, although if surgery is involved I'll be putting my name down right now.

Thanks for your visit! x

Dreadful hat, beautiful wedding. Not remotely a royalist but somehow couldn't help being moved!

..and Eugenie's too!
What were the pair thinking of? Trying to out-Fergie Fergie?

The spotting of the hat was the only thing about the affair that piqued the interest of the anklebiters. After they had viewed said hat and exhausted all commentary and Worst Case Scenario-ing, they went to bed, feeling that such a highlight could not be topped. Certainly not, at least in the view of the seven year old boy kid, by a smelly old kiss.
